Escape

It was a path that she had always taken
Her mind deep in thought,
As a voice called out

Her body frozen in fear
Her words could barley come out
Her heart pounded
Her feet raced fast then the wings of a hummingbird
Trying to escape,

As she listened
There’s no sound
Every thing is blocked out
But the sound of her shoes beating on the path as she ran,

His footsteps coming closer to her body
Her screams for help
Blocked out his hateful words

As tears began to fall from her eyes
His words that there was no hope
Made her worry more,

Harder and harder she ran
Her laces tangled
As she fell to the ground
Her body hit it hard
Like a glass vase shattering on the hard ground,

Her face numb with pain
From the hand that slapped her,

Death is what he said
God is what she thought
His hands came free
As she scrambled to get away
The girl who stays in the path had saved her.
